Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is here to stay. In recent years, remarkable scientific breakthroughs have revolutionized nearly every industry and sector, driving a profound societal impact through widely popular technologies such as ChatGPT, DALL-E, Nano Banana or Sora.
Beyond their seamless accessibility for the general public, many AI systems have demonstrated human-level—and often superhuman—performance across a wide array of tasks. Yet, despite this massive mainstream adoption, experts still view them as "black boxes" in many real-world scenarios due to a critical lack of explainability in their decision-making. Moreover, depending on the available datasets and the training process itself, AI models can produce biased outcomes against specific demographic groups or lack robustness when exposed to unseen conditions—not to mention other pressing challenges, such as data privacy.
PowerAI+ project aims to advance the state of the art in cutting-edge disruptive technologies, such as Large Language and Vision Models (LLMs and LVMs) and Generative AI (GenAI), among others. Its goal is to explore their application and enhancement to overcome many of the current limitations facing AI systems today.
Furthermore, thanks to the multidisciplinary profile of the Principal Investigator (PI) and the project team, the knowledge and technologies developed will be applied to key societal areas—such as healthcare and security—through close collaboration with experts and researchers from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Community of Madrid), among others.
